This Privacy Policy belongs to Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC, the studio behind this website. The developer name Knotted Inkwell appears here to identify the digital team that maintains these pages alongside the studio. The Company keeps its bench at 1143 W Jordan River Dr, South Jordan - 84095-8246, United States (US), and it can be reached by email at studio@knottedinkwell.buzz or by telephone at +17795993611.

We collect only what a working studio needs to answer a note, plan a piece, run a workshop or complete an install. This page explains what that means in practice, in plain language, without hidden conditions.

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy describes how Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC collects, uses, stores and shares information when you visit www.knottedinkwell.buzz, contact the studio, book a workshop, request a commission or otherwise work with us. The site is operated by Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC, a company registered in the United States with a studio at 1143 W Jordan River Dr, South Jordan - 84095-8246, United States (US).

Knotted Inkwell is the developer name used for the digital studio behind this website, and the same small team keeps the site, the ordering notes and the studio records in order. Where this policy says the Company, it means Knotted Inkwell Press, LLC. Where it says the Site, it means this website together with the pages and forms reached from it.

We wrote this policy in plain language on purpose. If any part of it is unclear, write to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz or call +17795993611 and a member of the team will explain how the practice applies to your situation.

Scope of This Policy

This policy covers the website, the contact form, email and telephone correspondence, workshop bookings, commission enquiries, repair requests and any trade installation discussion that begins through this site. It applies to visitors, prospective clients, workshop guests, trade partners and anyone who simply reads a page.

It does not cover third party websites that we link to, and it does not cover services that a client chooses to use independently, such as a payment platform or a delivery carrier. Those services publish their own privacy notices, and we encourage you to read them before sharing information with them.

Where a separate written agreement for a commission or installation contains privacy terms, that agreement takes priority for the information it covers. In every other case, this policy is the full statement of how personal information moves through the studio.

Information You Give Us

We collect the information that you choose to send. When you use the contact form you provide a name, an email address, a subject line and a message. When you call or write by email, the conversation contains whatever details you decide to include, such as a room size, a delivery address, a preferred workshop date or a photograph of an existing panel.

If you book a workshop we may keep your name, contact details, the session date and any notes about materials or accessibility needs that you share so the bench can be prepared properly. If you commission a piece we may keep the measurements, the agreed drawing, the approved quote and the delivery instructions. If you ask for a repair we may keep photographs and notes describing the original cord and the damaged run.

We ask that you send only what is needed for the job. Please do not send payment card numbers, government identification numbers or medical records through the contact form, because the website is not designed to protect that kind of information.

Information Collected Automatically

When you open a page, the server that hosts the site records a standard request entry. That entry can include the date and time of the visit, the page that was requested, the address of the page that referred you, the browser type and version, the operating system, the approximate region derived from the network address and a short technical identifier used to route the response.

These entries are used to keep the site available, to diagnose faults, to understand which pages are useful and to protect the studio from abusive traffic. They are not used to build advertising profiles, and we do not combine them with names or email addresses to create a personal marketing record.

The site is built with simple files and does not run heavy analytics or advertising scripts. If we later add a measurement tool or an embedded booking calendar, this policy will be updated before that tool goes live, and the new section will describe what it records and why.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

This site is designed to work without tracking cookies. Pages are served from ordinary files, and the only script on the page handles the mobile menu, the scroll reveal behaviour, the small accordion on the contact page and the mailto fallback for the contact form.

Some hosting providers set a short lived technical cookie to balance traffic or to keep a session stable. Where that happens, the cookie is used for delivery and security rather than for advertising. It does not follow you to other websites, and it expires on its own.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings at any time. Blocking a technical cookie may affect how quickly a page loads, but it should not prevent you from reading the site or sending a note.

How We Use Information

We use the information you send to answer your message, to prepare a quote, to schedule a workshop, to plan an installation, to arrange delivery, to handle a repair and to keep a record of the work that was agreed. We also use it to send the occasional studio note about a new workshop date or a change to the opening hours, but only where you have asked to hear from us or where the note is a direct follow up to a job.

Automatically collected entries are used to keep the site secure, to spot broken links, to measure general interest in the service pages and to plan improvements. We do not use them to single out an individual visitor, and we do not sell them.

We may use information to meet legal, tax and accounting duties, to respond to a lawful request from a public authority, to enforce the terms that apply to the site and to protect the rights of the Company, its clients and its guests.

Lawful Bases for Processing

Where privacy law requires a lawful basis, we rely on one or more of the following. We rely on your consent when you ask for a studio note or when you agree to a photograph being used in a project record. We rely on the performance of a contract when we prepare a quote, tie a commission, run a workshop or install a piece. We rely on our legitimate interests when we keep the site secure, answer a general enquiry or maintain ordinary business records. We rely on legal obligation when we keep accounting records or respond to a valid request from an authority.

Where consent is the basis, you can withdraw it at any time by writing to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz. Withdrawal does not affect work that was already carried out lawfully before the request arrived.

When We Share Information

We do not sell personal information, and we do not rent a contact list. Information is shared only where it is needed to run the studio or to meet a legal duty.

We share details with a delivery carrier when a finished piece must ship. We share details with an installer or trade partner when a site visit or a hang has been agreed and you have approved the arrangement. We share details with a hosting provider that stores the site files and the server entries described above. We share details with an accountant or a legal adviser when a tax or contract question requires it.

Each of these recipients is given only the information needed for the task. Where a recipient acts as an independent controller, that recipient is responsible for its own compliance. We choose providers with care, but we cannot promise that a third party outside our control will never change its practices.

We may disclose information if a court order, a subpoena or a lawful regulatory request requires it, or if disclosure is needed to prevent harm, to investigate fraud or to protect the safety of a person. We will limit any such disclosure to what the request actually demands.

How Long We Keep Information

Enquiry messages are kept while the conversation is active and for a reasonable period afterwards so that a later question can be answered with context. Workshop records are kept for the season in which they occur and for the following season, after which they are reduced to a simple attendance count.

Commission records, including drawings, quotes and delivery notes, are kept for as long as needed to support a warranty question or a repair, and then for the period required by tax and accounting rules. Repair notes are kept with the original job record so that a future repair can match the earlier work.

Server entries are kept for a short rolling window and then removed. Consent records are kept until the consent is withdrawn or the record is no longer needed to show that consent was given.

When a retention period ends, the information is deleted or reduced to a form that no longer identifies a person. Backup copies may persist for a short period after deletion before they are overwritten in the normal course.

How We Protect Information

We keep the studio systems small and simple on purpose. Access to email and job records is limited to the people who need it to answer a message, tie a piece or run a workshop. Devices that hold studio records are protected with a password and kept up to date, and paper job sheets are stored in the studio rather than left in open view.

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and the contact form does not store messages on the server. Instead, the form opens your own mail program so that the message travels through the same channel as any other email.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot promise that a breach will never occur, but we do promise to act promptly if one does. If a breach is likely to put a person at risk, we will notify the affected people and the relevant authority as the law requires.

Your Choices and Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to receive a copy, to correct something that is wrong, to delete information that is no longer needed, to restrict how it is used, to object to a particular use, to withdraw consent and to ask for information in a portable format.

To make a request, write to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz with enough detail for us to find the right record, such as the email address you used and the date of the job. We may ask a short question to confirm that the request comes from you. We will answer within the period the law allows, and we will explain any reason why a request cannot be fully met.

You also have the right to complain to a privacy authority in your region. We would rather hear from you first so that we can fix the problem directly, but the choice is yours.

Studio Notes and Marketing Choices

From time to time the studio sends a short note about a new workshop evening, a winter calendar or a change to the opening hours. These notes go only to people who have asked for them or who have recently worked with the studio and would reasonably expect a follow up.

Every note includes a simple way to stop future messages, and a single reply asking to be removed is enough. We keep a small suppression record so that a removed address is not added again by mistake. Stopping studio notes does not affect messages that are needed to complete a job you have already booked.

We do not buy contact lists, and we do not pass a reader address to an advertising network.

Privacy for Children

The site is intended for adults who are planning a room, a workshop or a trade job. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from a child under the age of thirteen.

A workshop seat for a younger guest is booked by a parent or guardian, and the booking record belongs to that adult. If you believe that a child has sent personal information to the studio without an adult, write to studio@knottedinkwell.buzz and we will remove the record as quickly as we can.

Links and Third Party Services

The site may link to a map service, a social page or a supplier site. Those pages are outside the control of the Company, and their privacy notices apply once you leave our pages. We are not responsible for the content or the data practices of a third party site.

If a booking or a payment is handled by an outside platform, that platform will collect information directly from you. We receive only the confirmation details needed to prepare the workshop or the order. Read the notice of that platform before you complete a transaction.

International Transfers

The studio operates from the United States, and the records described in this policy are generally held in the United States. If you contact the studio from another country, your information will be handled under United States law and the safeguards described here.

Where a service provider stores data in another region, we choose providers that offer appropriate contractual safeguards. If you would like to know which region holds a particular record, write to the studio and we will explain what we can confirm.

Changes to This Policy

We review this policy when the site changes, when a new service is added or when the law requires an update. The revised version will be posted on this page with a new effective date at the top.

If a change materially affects how existing information is used, we will take reasonable steps to let affected people know before the change takes effect. Continuing to use the site after a revision means that you accept the updated policy.
